The Handmade Parade

The 9th annual Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade returns on Sunday
26th June, bigger and with a Russian twist.

Outdoor Event

This year’s spectacle will have a truly international feel as the local parade team of world-class artists, musicians and performers are joined by Russian artists from Cardboardia – a ficticious young country without territory, but with new strong traditions, in a unique artist residency co-commissioned by the Yorkshire Festival.

On June 26th, at the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade, Cardboardia will celebrate the opening of its first Embassy on English soil. This residency will be the first stage of a two year project throughout the North of England which will result in creating a Cardboard Town in England.

The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade will start at 12 noon with a mini-festival in Calder Holmes Park from 1pm - 4pm. In the lead up to the parade, open costume workshops will run from 4th - 23rd June 2016.

Cardboardia will also be coming to Kirklees, watch out for further news.

A bit more information...

The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade is an annual celebration of funkiness, the art of the handmade and is just sheer fun! The magic happens in three weeks of workshops, open to anyone who wants to make costumes, carryable art or help create giant puppets. With an ace team of local professional carnival artists, volunteers, guest artists and some killer street bands, we create just the occasion for up to 1000 people to dance down the streets of Hebden Bridge, watched by thousands. Seriously, you don’t want to miss this.
