I Fagiolini’s latest concert conjures up the Venetian Carnival, as this chart-topping ensemble returns to Yorkshire.
The world-famous vocal ensemble I Fagiolini has established a reputation and a huge following for their adventurous, unconventional performances.
Their latest experiment transports the audience to the Venetian Carnival, an event that swelled the city with thousands of visitors and with mischief, masques and mayhem, as commedia dell’arte groups and musicians spilled out onto the streets.
Directed by Robert Hollingworth, I Fagiolini conveys the spirit of the Carnevale Veneziano through the music of Banchieri, Vecchi, Croce and pieces by Willaert, Monteverdi and Andrea Gabrieli.
Part of the 2014 Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival with support from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
